Sunset Family Photos at Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast
Cannon Beach Family Photos at the Oregon Coast
Getting to photograph this family at the Oregon coast was the highlight of my spring because we are both photographers! It was great to meet Jamee and get to know her and her family. Not only were they incredibly sweet together and dressed amazing, but we were extremely lucky with this warm and sunny day in April. At the Oregon coast. How often does that even happen, right?
At the time that we went, it was almost high tide so you can’t walk back to the tide pools. But we did have an amazing view of Haystack rock and I positioned us so the sun was just barely peeking past it which I think looks absolutely beautiful.
Dressing for an Oregon coast photo session
Not all photographers offer a client closet but I definitely do and am here to help you style your family for your Oregon coast photos. You can borrow anything that you would like from the over 450 items that I have available at no additional cost. I will also give suggestions on where to shop if you are needing something I don’t have, and figure out the best options so everyone looks great together.
I styled all the females in this family’s Oregon coast photos using my client closet. The two girls dresses are from Joyfolie and Jamee’s top is from Jen‘s Pirate Booty. Jamee’s white skirt was something that I had found randomly but you can find similar skirts on Jen‘s Pirate Booty, also.
For dad, we kept it neutral with a cream colored Henley from H&M and dark wash jeans. Guys look awesome in Henley‘s and that cream color looks amazing at the Oregon coast.
Photographing other photographers is wonderful because Jamee totally trusted my vision with the outfits and let me take the lead on the styling for their Oregon coast photo session. Styling is one of my favorite things to do and when family’s let me pick their outfits, I get so excited. Putting together this combo was super fun. I wanted to keep their outfits warm because sometimes the beach tends to have a lot of cooler tones but warm tones have this photographer’s heart. We did get lucky with the sun being out that day so I think that helped bring the warmth, as well.
Being prepared for Oregon coast weather
Usually I would suggest having layers because it can tend to be colder at the Oregon coast but we got lucky and didn’t even need them. I had some chunky knit open sweaters and blankets that we could have used if needed. But we didn’t even need to bring them out of the car. It’s always good to have back up warm options, though. Because cold kids do not equal happy kids.
Bringing the fun during photos at Cannon Beach
If you can’t already tell from these photos, we had a ton of fun together during this photo session at the Oregon coast. I pride myself on being a fun photographer, so we played lots of little games to get everyone laughing and having a good time. But I also made sure to give them plenty of space to get cuddly and be sweet with each other because capturing those quiet moments is also some thing I am very passionate about. Their session ended up being the perfect mix of silly and sweet.
