Oregon Coast Family Photographer

Adventure photos + videos for silly, loving, and carefree families

Imagine spending a carefree evening with your family, toes in the sand, the salty breeze in your hair, and the sound of crashing waves as your backdrop. You might chase the waves, cozy up by a bonfire, or twirl together in the golden light of sunset. No matter what, your session will be filled with authentic moments and joyful connections, captured beautifully so you can relive them any time you want.

For over 15 years, families have trusted me to create fun, stress-free sessions that bring out real laughter and genuine moments. I’ll guide you with simple, playful interactions that help everyone feel comfortable and natural in front of the camera. You might end up racing down the shoreline, sharing a silly joke, or snuggling close for a quiet moment. There’s no pressure to pose or perform, just a relaxed, fun experience where your family’s love and personality are the focus.

What to expect during your session

Before Your Session: We’ll chat about your vision, choose the best beach location, and I’ll provide wardrobe tips to help you feel confident in front of the camera. You’ll get lots of advice to help you prepare and create a fun environment for the kids.

During Your Session: I’ll guide you with natural things to do and playful interactions to capture genuine smiles and heartfelt moments. The goal is to showcase your family’s connection to each other rather than your connection to the camera.

After Your Session: You’ll receive images that show the love, laughter, and little moments that make your family who you are, with the option to order prints and albums that let you relive these moments again and again.

Where to schedule your Oregon Coast photos

My favorite locations on the Oregon Coast, in no particular order, are Rockaway BeachPacific City, Oceanside, Lincoln City, and Cannon Beach but we can go anywhere from Astoria to Lincoln City without any additional travel fees. If you want to venture farther south to Yachats, Florence, etc we definitely can, there will just be an additional fee (but it’s worth it, so many beautiful places there and less crowds!).

When choosing locations, spots that aren’t just flat beaches are best. I like to have something that will help partially block the sun which will give you the best results at sunset (for example, a mountain, rock, driftwood, or a jetty). This also makes your photos much more interesting. I will help you find the perfect spot based on lighting, natural elements, tides, and crowds and you will get a location guide after booking to help you narrow it down.

When is the best time to book a photo session at the Oregon Coast?

The weather at the coast can be pretty unpredictable, so if you’re looking for a semi-warm day, then booking your session in the summer is going to be the safest choice. But a spring or fall evening could end up absolutely gorgeous, you just never know at the Oregon Coast! Your beach session will be around an hour, so we will start about an hour before sunset if the sun is out. This might vary depending on the location chosen. We would start 1.5-2 hours before sunset if it’s overcast to make sure that we have enough light.

Another thing to consider is the day of the week that you choose. There will be fewer crowds if you’re able to book on a weekday, but if you have to book your Oregon coast session on a weekend, we will do our best to deal with the crowds or choose a location that is less popular.

How can we have the best, most relaxed Oregon Coast photos?

You might be worried about the late session time if you have younger kids, so I’ve written a blog post to help you called 7 Tips to Keep the Kids Awake and Happy For Sunset Family Photos. Another way to keep your session stress-free is to book an overnight stay at the coast, so you don’t have to worry about driving home afterward. You can check AirbnbVRBO, or Expedia for places to stay. You can also read about how to keep a session with kids happy and fun: Why I Want Your Kids to Misbehave During Your Family Photo Session (sounds silly but it’s true!).

What to wear for beach photos

Styling is my favorite and I am here to help you pick out the best outfits. You will have access to my client closet if you’d like to borrow anything. You’ll also get access to a styling website that helps you find coordinated clothing for purchase online and create style boards to help you visualize your options. My favorite clothing for beach sessions are flowy dresses and things that will show movement. I love fabrics with textures like gauze, lace, muslin, waffle cloth, and knits.

When choosing colors for your Oregon coast photos, choosing warmer shades helps to enhance the sunset colors, and keep your photos from looking too cool if it’s overcast. I love mustard, rust, caramel, brown, and dusty rose. You can mix in some blue-gray, seafoam green or turquoise if you’d like. Make sure to throw in lots of neutrals like off-white, cream, gray, taupe, and beige. For prints, add in a floral or two, maybe some stripes or polka dots, or go without a pattern and add interest by using textures instead. Rompers for little ones work great at the beach. Be sure to watch the weather and have layers available if it’s windy and/or cold.

“I found Becca on IG after searching for Oregon based photographers for an upcoming vacation. She was really quick to respond, gave me TONS of information, asked lots of relevant questions, and offered advice when needed. I was anxious about hiring from out of state but she made the prep process and communication process so easy. Becca was incredibly helpful in recommending locations and digging into what we really wanted. She sent tips and recommendations leading up to our session that were really helpful. Her site is great for sending payments/signing online contracts – she just made it all so easy!! Her recommended location was IDEAL and she knows her stuff!! The session itself was great – always a few jitters right at the start but after a very short time, we were comfortable and she just let us do our thing with only little direction like I had hoped for. The candids are SO good – I seriously cried when we got our photos because I was so thrilled with them. She was sweet, ever patient, funny, and just easy to be around. I couldn’t recommend her more!!”
