Oregon Coast Family & Couples Photographer

Plan a fun day with your family or loved one exploring the beach, running from the waves, and dancing in the sunset during your Oregon coast family or couples lifestyle photography session. Pricing and availability are different from my other sessions, so contact me first before booking or check my booking calendar for predetermined destination dates. I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years, and I’ll help you plan a great family or date night experience!

Where should we schedule our Oregon Coast photos?

My favorite locations on the Oregon Coast are in Rockaway Beach, Pacific City, and Cannon Beach but we can go anywhere within 2 hours of 97236 without any additional travel fees (Roughly from Astoria to Lincoln City). I like to have some sort of element that will help block the sun, which will give you the best results at sunset (for example, a rock, driftwood, or a jetty). We can work together to find the perfect spot based on lighting, natural elements, tides, and crowds!

When is the best time to book a photo session at the Oregon Coast?

The weather at the coast can be pretty unpredictable, so if you’re looking for a semi-warm day, then booking your session in the summer is going to be the safest choice. Your beach session will be around an hour long, so the best time to start would be about 45 minutes before sunset if the sun is out. This might vary depending on the location chosen. We would start 1.5-2 hours before sunset if it’s overcast to ensure that we have enough light.

Another thing to consider is the day of the week that you choose. There will be less crowds if you’re able to book on a weekday, but if you have to book your Oregon coast session on a weekend, we will do our best to deal with the crowds. If you like less people around, then avoid booking on a Saturday, if possible.

How can we have the best, most relaxed Oregon Coast photos?

You might be worried about the late session time if you have younger kids, so I’ve written a blog post to help you called 7 Tips to Keep the Kids Awake and Happy For Sunset Family Photos. Another way to keep your session stress-free is to book an overnight stay at the coast, so you don’t have to worry about driving home afterwards. You can check Airbnb, VRBO, or Expedia for places to stay. You can also read about how to keep a session with kids happy and fun: Why I Want Your Kids to Misbehave During Your Family Photo Session (sounds silly but it’s true!).

What should we wear for our beach photos?

Styling is my favorite and I am here to help you pick out the best outfits. You will have access to my client closet if you’d like to borrow anything. I can also help you find clothing online, send you links and make style boards to help you visualize your options. My favorite clothing for beach sessions are dresses and things that will show movement. I love fabrics with texture like gauze, lace, muslin, waffle cloth, and knits.

When choosing colors for your Oregon coast photos, choosing warmer shades helps to enhance the sunset colors, and keep your photos from looking too cool if it’s overcast. I love mustard, rust, caramel, brown, and dusty rose. You can mix in some olive, dirty blue, seafoam green or turquoise if you’d like. Also throw in lots of neutrals like off-white, cream, gray, and beige. For prints, add in a floral or two, maybe some stripes or polka dots, or go without a pattern and add interest by using textures instead. Be sure to watch the weather and have layers available if it’s windy and/or cold.

How can I book a couples or family photographer at the Oregon Coast?

Please contact me first before booking your family, maternity or couples beach session, as my availability is different than my local sessions. You can also check my booking calendar for my predetermined destination dates (scroll past my regular booking calendar to see destination availability). I’m so excited to be your Oregon coast photographer!

“Rebecca has a true talent and eye for beauty! She was wonderful with our family of crazy little boys and captured some unbelievable moments. Her style is different than other photographers which I love. You don’t have to have a perfect sit still family in order to get some amazing family photos out of the experience. In fact she prefers you’re moving and having fun! I highly recommend her to anyone looking for photos injected with movement, passion and fun. “
