Best Comfortable Shoes for Photographers: My Honest Kiziks Review

Finding comfortable shoes for photographers is not always easy, especially when you spend all day on your feet. But when I discovered Kiziks, everything changed. They are the only shoes I can wear for hours without thinking about my feet. Actually, I’m kind of obsessed. I own several pairs and wear them for everything from photoshoots to travel.

If these shoes look well-worn in my photos, that is because they are. I am not reviewing brand-new shoes straight out of the box (that wouldn’t be very helpful, now would it?). I have worn all of these extensively, and they continue to be my go-to choices depending on what I need that day.

Thank you to my daughter for taking these photos for this post!

Some of the links in this post may be affiliate links, but only for products I use and love enough to share (I wasn’t given any incentive to create this post, I actually just love all these shoes!!). If you buy through my links, I’ll earn some cash for coffee (or tea). But don’t worry, I’ll use that energy to create more helpful content for you!

I really put them to the test on my solo trip to Europe last fall. With limited luggage space, I could only bring two pairs of shoes, so I had to make them count. My picks? A pair of Kizik Irvine sneakers for everyday walking and Kizik Wasatch Mid hiking boots for excursions. They did not disappoint. I walked literally all day on most days and while my feet did hurt after (no way to avoid that when spending so long on your feet), they hurt much less than they would with any other shoe. I actually thought it would be smart to bring some memory foam insoles to switch out with the Kizik insoles every other day for variety. But on the days I wore the memory foam ones, my feet were aching!! After realizing that, I threw the memory foam in the trash and stuck with Kizik’s rabbit foam insoles for the rest of the trip. Best decision ever.

The Everyday Essential Shoes: Kizik Irvine

If I had to pick just one favorite, the Irvine wins. They are just so cute and comfortable, perfect shoes for a photographer or anyone who is on their feet a lot.

  • They’re cute and versatile—they go with both pants and skirts and look adorable.
  • They have a wide toe box, so my feet don’t feel cramped after miles of walking.
  • I can wear them straight out of the box with no break-in time. Zero blisters. No regrets.

The Adventure-Ready Hiking Boots: Kizik Wasatch Mid

For my adventure family sessions, I need shoes that can handle uneven terrain but still feel good at the end of the day. The Wasatch Mid boots are perfect, comfortable shoes for photographers because:

  • They have great traction, which is a must when I’m running around capturing kids climbing rocks and splashing in streams.
  • They’re comfortable from day one, unlike most hiking boots that feel stiff for weeks.
  • They’re breathable yet still water-resistant, so if I accidentally step in a puddle, I’m fine. Now, if I were to stand in water for a while, that’d be a different story, but for a work shoe that needs to keep my feet cool and comfortable, they’re perfect.

The Photoshoot Companion: Kizik Lima

If I have a photo session that’s more flat trails and less rocky terrain, I grab my Lima shoes.

  • They’re light and breathable, making them great for summer sessions.
  • The extra ankle support helps with all the crouching and walking I do.

The Gym Favorite: Kizik Brisbane Shoes

I also wear Kiziks to the gym, and the Brisbane is my go-to for workouts. Why?

  • They have a higher back for ankle support, which makes me feel extra stable when I’m bouncing around in Zumba.
  • The rabbit foam midsoles make standing and moving for long periods super comfortable.
  • They are extra springy! Feels so good to jump in these!

The Best No-Show Socks That Actually Stay Put

I have to give a shoutout to Kizik’s no-show socks because they are just as impressive as their shoes. If you have ever worn no-show socks that slip off your heel halfway through the day, you know how absolutely annoying that is.

These are different. They have rubber grips on the back that keep them in place THAT ACTUALLY WORK, and even after walking around all day, they never budge. I have worn them for long travel days, photoshoots, and gym workouts, and I never have to stop and adjust them.

If you are already grabbing a pair of Kiziks, I highly recommend adding a pack of their no-show socks.

Why Kiziks Are the Most Comfortable Shoes for Photographers

Kiziks just make my feet happier! As a photographer, I’m always on my feet, either during sessions, location scouting, or traveling for conferences. I’m running, squatting, exploring, climbing over things to get the perfect shot… But I also want to look cute while doing it. This is the perfect combo.

  • They’re slip-ons, but they don’t look like slip-ons. Some of them have pretend laces and some have real ones, depending on the style.
  • They’re hands-free! I can get out the door so fast now.
  • Roomy toes. I can’t handle shoes that are tight on my ties. All my Kiziks have room in the toes so I never feel constricted.
  • They last. I’ve put mine through some serious miles, and they’re still going strong.
  • They look good, which is hard to find in a sneaker that’s also this practical.
  • They are SO comfortable! I have tried buying shoes that I thought looked cute before, but then ended up never wearing them because they just weren’t comfortable. I’ve decided that comfort is my number 1 priority and I can always trust that Kiziks will win in that category.
