Among the Wildflowers Retreat
For women family photographers who want to connect, learn, and adventure together
April 26-30th 2027 in Hood River, Oregon
Only 11 spots available

This retreat is for women family photographers who want a few days away to learn, explore, relax, and make real connections.
Here’s the vibe:
Wildflowers, shared meals, a glass of wine on the deck, and really good conversations about photography and business with women who laugh a lot and don’t take themselves too seriously.

Picture this:
You wake up in Hood River, grab breakfast, and look out at Mt. Hood from the dining area or the back deck before the day even gets started.
Later, you’re out in the wildflowers with cliffs, trails, and views of the Columbia River all around you, standing in one of the prettiest places I know.
Back at the house, dinner is waiting, the wine gets opened, and everyone ends up outside talking, laughing, and staying out there longer than they meant to.
That’s the kind of few days this is meant to be.

A lot of family photographers are doing so much of this on their own.
And while that can be fine sometimes, it can also start to feel isolating. There are so many ideas, questions, and moving parts when you’re running a business like this, and it’s different when you get to talk about it with women who are living it too.
That’s a big part of why I wanted to create this retreat. A few days away in a beautiful place, time to learn and talk, and make lasting connections with people who understand.
You’ll learn about…
Over these few days together, I’ll be teaching:
- Family films
How to make video feel simple and doable during family sessions. I’ll cover shooting AND editing. - The building blocks of a relaxed family session
How I prep families, help people feel comfortable, and use prompts that lead to movement and real moments - Websites and messaging to attract the right clients
How to make your website connect better and help the right people see themselves there - Creating a better client experience from start to finish
A look at the experience your clients have from the time they first reach out to the time they receive their photos, plus time to look at your own workflow and see where you can make it even better
You’ll have time to practice, implement, edit videos and photos, ask questions, and work on your own business while you’re there.

Where we’ll spend the week
You’ll stay in a cozy wood lodge in Hood River, Oregon with farm country vibes and a view of Mt. Hood.
Our retreat cook, my older sister, will be making meals for us and can accommodate dietary needs and preferences, so you don’t have to stress about food. The only meal not included is one dinner out in town, where everyone will pay for their own meal.
And the wildflowers… they are like a dream world. We’ll go out there twice during the retreat, once for a styled shoot and once for a wildflower hike. The cliffs, the trails winding through the flowers, and the views of the Columbia River all feel so special. It also tends to be drier there than Portland, so we have a pretty good chance of beautiful weather.
Your retreat spot includes:
- 4 nights at the lodge in Hood River April 26-30th 2027
- all meals at the house, plus snacks (except one dinner out in town is not included)
- all teaching sessions
- a styled family shoot in the wildflowers
- the wildflower hike
- hands on learning, editing time, implementation time, and group discussions
- access to the private Facebook group before the retreat
- welcome gifts and retreat materials
A few things to know:
- Arrival to the retreat house starts at 5pm on April 26th, and checkout is 11am on the 30th
- Flights are not included
- You’ll want to fly into PDX
- Getting to and from Hood River is not included (it’s about an hour from the airport)
- Renting a car is suggested, but I’ll also have a Facebook group for attendees to connect and coordinate rides
- We’ll also carpool to retreat activities as much as possible
Why this retreat exists
Hi, I’m Becca from Becca Jean Photography!
For the past three years, I’ve been hosting a retreat for local photographers in the Portland area, and it has created such a strong sense of community. We always have the best time, the best conversations, and I’ve loved seeing the friendships that have come from it.
At the same time, people have been asking me for years when I was going to open something like this up to a wider group, and I’m finally doing it.
There’s something about being around other photographers and getting to talk about the things you just can’t really talk about with most people in your life, either because they don’t get it or because they start to zone out. You know what I’m talking about.

I also love bringing people to places that feel meaningful to me, and the wildflowers out here are one of those places. They are beautiful and peaceful in a way that’s hard to explain the magnitude of until you’re standing there yourself.
And of course, I love teaching. Getting to speak in person is something I only dreamed about until a few years ago and now I can’t get enough. I love helping photographers understand things more clearly, try new ideas, and leave feeling excited about what they want to do next.
This retreat is a mix of all of that. A beautiful place, good conversations, new ideas, and time with women who love family photography, laugh a lot, and don’t take themselves too seriously.

A little peek into a past retreat
This video is from last year’s retreat I hosted on the Oregon Coast for local photographers.
The location and structure will be different for the Among the Wildflowers Retreat, but this gives you a look into the overall vibe. Good conversations, beautiful scenery, lots of laughing, and a really laid-back group of women spending a few days together.
Something I love about retreats like this is that they don’t really end when everyone goes home. I still have group chats from past retreats where we support each other, vent, and share advice (and sometimes talk about new beauty finds, which is the current topic in one of them right now… red light therapy and tallow, anyone?).
Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive at the lodge any time after 5pm, get settled in, enjoy a welcome dinner at 7pm, and spend the evening getting to know everyone.
Day 2
We’ll start the day with breakfast, learning about family films, then practice filming at the house. After lunch, I’ll teach about websites and messaging to attract the right clients. Later, we’ll head into the cute town of Hood River to walk around, check out the shops, have dinner together, and wrap up the day with a fireside chat back at the house.
Day 3
After breakfast, we’ll begin with The building blocks of a relaxed family session, followed by time to apply what you learned and brainstorm. After that, we’ll do a headshot exchange at the house, eat lunch, spend some time learning and practicing video editing, and then head out that evening for our styled family shoot in the wildflowers. Dinner will be ready when we return back to the lodge.
Day 4
We’ll spend the morning on a wildflower hike, then come back for editing time. Later, I’ll teach on creating a better client experience from start to finish, and you’ll have time to do a self-audit of your own workflow and see where you can make the experience even better for your clients. We’ll end our last full day with one final dinner and evening together at the house.
Day 5
We’ll have breakfast, do a final wrap-up together, try not to cry, and head home by 11am.
Times may shift a bit depending on weather, especially around the styled shoot, but this gives you a good idea of the overall flow of our days together.
